Shockwave Therapy

shockwave treatment

Shockwave therapy (ESWT — Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy) delivers high-energy acoustic waves through the skin to targeted areas of pain and tissue damage. These waves stimulate blood flow, collagen production, and the body’s natural repair processes – making it particularly effective for chronic injuries where healing has stalled.

How It Works

  • New blood vessel formation
  • Reversal of chronic inflammation
  • Stimulation of collagen production
  • Dissolution of calcific deposits
  • Release of myofascial trigger points
  • Dispersion of pain-producing substances

Conditions Treated

  • Tendinopathy (tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow, rotator cuff, patellar tendon, Achilles tendon)
  • Calcific tendinitis
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Bursitis
  • Myofascial trigger points
  • Bone stress injuries

What to Expect

Most conditions require 3 treatment sessions, delivered once per week, with some needing up to 5. Tissues continue to heal for up to 18 weeks after treatment, so results often improve well beyond the final session.

Some soreness, redness, or swelling for 24–48 hours after each treatment is normal. Patients are advised to avoid anti-inflammatory medications (such as ibuprofen) and ice during the treatment course, as these can interfere with the healing response.
